As a co-founder of Joomla! and OpenSourceMatters Inc I've never been known to be lacking an opinion or being too afraid to express it.

Despite what some people might think I'm a shy and modest man who doesn't like to blow his own trumpet or boast about achievements.

I've presented on Joomla! and Internet related subjects all across the world to audiences from one to five hundred. No audience scares me although one or two have given me a fright.

With a background in both IT and Social Work, I've been around the Open Source software world since the mid '90s. I co-founded the first UK Linux ISP and helped launch the first Linux distribution targeted at the UK.

As one of the founders of Joomla! and prior to that a Core Team member of Mambo I have experience working on Joomla! powered web sites for clients big and small.

In 2005 I was honoured with an award for "UK Individual Contribution to Open Source Software" the first and only winner not to be a programmer and in 2009 the readers of ComputerWeekly chose my blog as the Open source in business blog of the year.

Nick Savov

Nick Savov

Nick Savov has been involved with Joomla for about two and a half years and web related work for only three years. He's a quick learner and enjoys learning new things by applying himself until a goal is accomplished. During his time with Joomla, he's been involved in a lot of areas of the project including documentation, Joomla Bug Squad, marketing, communication, and helping out on the developer mailing lists and the forum.

One of his favorite parts about Joomla is meeting other people in the community, getting to know them better, and working with them to accomplish common goals. He especially loves helping others to learn something new, to solve problems, and to contribute to the Joomla core.

Nick's employed at OSTraining, as the Director of Sites, where he's helped answer thousands of Joomla-related questions. As part of the job, he also gets to work with Joomla and Joomla-related products throughout the day. Having those opportunities and his colleagues as co-workers has made the position a dream job for him.

After completing my first Joomla project, I needed to learn more about Joomla. I attended Joomla Day Las Vegas, and as the world-famous tag line" What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas". I met a few core developers returned home awe-inspired.

I have long supported the project. I started contributing by sharing my knowledge and speaking at Joomla conferences. I have spoke or attended many local and international Joomla events. To name a few J!Day Chicago, J!Day Midwest, J!Day Boston, J!Day NL J!Day Las Vegas and many other events. I have participated on countless joomla teams, social media, marketing, and the PLT to name a few.

Today I’m involved on many open source projects. I work for portlandLabs the company behind concrete5. I follow a couple different block chain projects and will be speaking at jdayFL in February.
